As described in the brochure: Wednesday – Day 4: Cruise to Nantucket – This morning you’ll ride beautiful bike paths to meet our vessel for your cruise across the waters of Nantucket Sound to the storied island of Nantucket. During the height of the whaling era these waters were the most heavily traveled on earth outside of the English Channel. The former whaling capital of the world, Nantucket Town’s cobblestone streets and stately old homes exude a sense of history unmatched by other coastal towns. Upon disembarking the boat, enjoy a private tour of the Nantucket Whaling Museum. The Museum is far more than a whaling museum, encompassing the island’s history dating from its Native American inhabitants. The 46’skeleton of a sperm whale that washed ashore in 1998 is one of many unique displays. Explore the town’s cobblestone streets before dining on your own at one of the many fine restaurants in town. Lodging: Roberts House Inn Nantucket, MA 508‐228‐9009 www.robertshouseinn.com Cycling Options: 19 miles plus 3‐mile walk (or ride) |
