As described in the brochure: Thursday – Day 5: S’conset and Sankaty Head Lighthouse – Today’s ride offers some of the islands most dramatic views leading you to the eastern side of the island and the village of Siasconset, better known as S’conset by the locals. The town, which almost seems to be frozen in time, is a lovely collection of gray‐shingled cottages, many of which are surrounded by beautiful gardens. For decades, artists have been drawn to the beauty of the shell‐covered roads and classic cottages on the bluff above the ocean. Nantucket is the birthplace of the US Coast Guard and along the way you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Nantucket Lifesaving Museum. Pocomo Beach offers outstanding seashell collecting and views of Nantucket Harbor. Pass by the remnants of one of the oldest cranberry bogs in Massachusetts. Visit the Sankaty Head Lighthouse, one of the most important beacons of its time on the east coast. The original Fresnel lens, which was crafted in Paris, can be seen at the Whaling Museum. A late afternoon ride to Madaket Beach takes you to the western end of the island and the town that was the first English settlement on the island. This evening join the group for a fabulous farewell dinner at our favorite local restaurant. Lunch is on your own today.
